 Carmen Linares "La Chiqui"
- born in Puerto Rico to Spanish parents, Chiqui began her dance instruction at age 3. During her youth Chiqui trained in New York City, with the American Ballet Theater, traveling to Spain she trained under many renowned Flamenco Instructors. In the late 1970’s Chiqui and her family moved to San Antonio, where she began teaching Flamenco and Classical Spanish Dance. As a professional dancer Chiqui performed with the Philadelphia Ballet and the Ballet de San Juan in Puerto Rico. She has toured internationally with her husband Jose and son Luis both talented Flamenco artists.Chiqui  relocated back to San Antonio with her husband Jose Linares in 2010. Their desire is to continue the tradition of flamenco in San Antonio and invest in the future of local students and professional artists as well.  

Jose Linares "El Patriarca" was born into a family of artists in Madrid, Spain. His first steps in the artistic world were closely followed by his relatives. At the age of 12 he was introduced as a professional in the art of guitar, playing and traveling around the world to perform. He has played for President John F. Kennedy, Princess grace of Monaco, Aristotle Onassis and Francisco Franco among others. He was also a featured artists on the Ed Sullivan Show. In 1976 anlong with his wife Chiqui, the couple founded "La Compania de Arte Espanol," in San Antonio, Texas. Today Jose serves as the musical director for Raices, working to teach the next generation of musicians and spreading his love of flamenco to San Antonio and its surrounding communities.
